The Rays will send righty Yonny Chirinos to the mound to start tonight against the Red Sox in the first of four games over about a 45-hour span.
Chirinos has split his time this season between starting and pitching behind an opener.
In six starts, he is 3-2, 2.78 with a .205 opponents average and 7.8 strikeouts per nine innings, allowing 36 hits in 35 2/3 innings.
In six relief outings, he is 3-0, 3.91 with a .223 opponents average and 6.4 K per nine, allowing 21 hits in 25 1/3 innings.
The Sox are starting veteran Rick Porcello, who has struggled most of this season.
