The Rays are making their first visit to San Diego since 2004 and just their second overall for a three-game series that starts tonight.
Diego Castillo will be the opener for the Rays and Austin Pruitt is available for bulk innings, though the Rays may be aggressive in shuffling pitchers if it’s a close game and use pinch-hitters whenever possible. That’s because this is an interleague series with no DH.
The Padres have a couple of familiar ex-Rays, former Rookie of the Year outfielder Wil Myers and 2019 All-Star reliever Kirby Yates.
Here is the Rays lineup, with Tommy Pham not playing against lefty Joey Lucchesi:
Heredia lf
d’Arnaud c
Aguilar 1b
Garcia rf
Duffy 3b
Brosseau 2b
Kiermaier cf
Adames ss

And here is the Padres lineup:
