The Rays began the process of reconstructing their roster for 2019, claiming RHP Oliver Drake off waivers from Minnesota and outrighting Cs Jesus Sucre and Adam Moore off the 40-man roster.
Drake, 31, pitched for a record five teams during 2018, posting a 1-1, 5.29 ERA in 44 games for the Brewers, Indians, Angels, Blue Jays and Twins.
Sucre has been with the Rays the last two seasons primarily as the backup catcher, hitting .232 with 8 homers and 46 RBI while starting 103 games. He is likely to elect free agency, as the Rays likely will seek another right-handed hitting catcher to pair with Michael Perez.
