ST. PETERSBURG -- Erasmo Ramirez gave the Rays just what they needed Saturday night, a long and solid outing during a spot start.
And the offense gave Ramirez what every Rays starter needed this season but has not received -- runs.
After back-to-back shutouts and one run in their previous 27 innings, the lowest-scoring team in the majors scored in bunches, turning in a season-high in a 7-2 win against the White Sox.
The victory was witnessed by 30,451 at Tropicana Field, the second-largest crowd of the season. It was the first Saturday night home game of the year and all fans received a Kevin Kiermaier platinum glove bobblehead.
