The Rays announced Tuesday that left-handed reliever Colin Poche tore his UCL. He was placed on the injured list, and catcher Kevan Smith was added to the 40-man roster in his place.
Poche has been recommended for Tommy John surgery, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Marc Topkin. The 26 year old previously had Tommy John surgery in 2014.
Rehabilitation from this surgery typically takes over a year, so if it’s scheduled timely, a return late in the 2021 season is not out of the question.
