TAMPA — It was a moment Kyle Tucker had been dreaming of for as long as he can remember, and a moment that now seems like it came over him in a hurry.
The 18-year-old former Plant High standout was selected No. 5 overall by the Houston Astros in Monday’s Major League Baseball draft.
“It is kind of indescribable,” Tucker said. “It’s one of those moments that happens so quickly and then you think you have a chance to play in the major leagues someday soon. It’s truly awesome.”
Tucker’s older brother Preston was Houston’s seventh-round pick in 2012 out of the University of Florida.
