Tampa Bay Rays utility man Steve Pearce has become a popular name in trade talks, as teams look to add depth and versatility to their lineups before the Aug. 1 non-waiver deadline. Pearce can play in the infield or outfield and could be a strong right-handed bat for a team with aspirations to get deep into October.
Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports the San Francisco Giants are among the "most interested" in Pearce, along with the Cleveland Indians.
Pearce's .912 OPS and 11 home runs in 58 games show the pop he could bring to a lineup.
