SEATTLE – Mike Zunino said all the right things about coming back to Seattle this weekend to face his former Mariners teammates for the first time since being traded to the Rays.
That he greatly enjoyed his seven years with the organization, still had plenty of friends over there, understood why he was dealt given the direction the Mariners were headed, and had no complaints about how he was treated.
But then he reminded them what they were missing, hitting a three-run homer that keyed a 5-4 Rays victory Saturday night.
Kevin Kiermaier and Avisail Garcia also homered for the Rays, Charlie Morton gave them a good enough six innings, and the bullpen trio of Colin Poche, Nick Anderson and Emilio Pagan took it from there.
