Mayor, Rays official want to discuss stadium with each city council member

ST. PETERSBURG – Mayor Rick Kriseman has invited city council members to meet individually with him and Tampa Bay Rays President Brian Auld in another attempt to strike a deal to let the team look outside the city for new stadium locations.

Council member Karl Nurse said Tuesday he plans to accept the mayor’s offer with hopes of breaking the council’s deadlock that has killed the mayor’s previous proposals.

“They’ve got some sort of a deal. I don’t know what it is,” Nurse said.

Nurse said he is scheduled to meet with them Monday – three days before the council’s next regular meeting.
