* For a guy who didn't have his best stuff Wednesday, Blake Snell pitched pretty well to get into the seventh inning and allow only two runs. Take that as another sign of his maturation to be able to make do with less.
* The bunt play they couldn't defend in the 12th and the pitch Snell threw in the seventh were main topics of conversation. But the Rays may have lost this game in the first two innings when they got six on and scored only one run.
* Interesting that manager Kevin Cash admitted to being mad at himself for earlier decisions, presumably not bringing in a righty to face James McCann.
