Marc Topkin’s takeaways from Rays 9-3 loss to Mariners:
* If there was a highlight for the Rays on the mound, it was infielder Mike Brosseau working a 1-2-3 ninth, their only pitcher to do so, mixing speeds from 53 to 77 and keeping the Mariners off balance. He was cheered for his effort, and again when he came to bat, introduced as the pitcher.
* There wasn’t a lot good about the still struggling offense either for the Rays on Monday, though there were a few positives. Tommy Pham blasted a leadoff homer, his third time going deep in his last five games, and Austin Meadows launched a ball nearly off the back wall of the Trop well beyond the rightfield fence.
