NEW YORK -- Mallex Smith went deep in the fourth inning of Wednesday night's Rays-Yankees contest at Yankee Stadium.
Smith's second home run of the season, a two-run shot, came on the first pitch he saw from Luis Cessa, giving the Rays a 5-1 lead and chasing the Yankees' starter.
Smith brings a lot of offensive weapons to the table, but home runs have not been his calling card. Wednesday night's blast gave him seven career home runs.
Smith's only other home run of the season came on July 1 against the Astros at Tropicana Field.
