Longoria leaves game after fouling ball off foot

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Evan Longoria left Thursday afternoon's Rays game against the Phillies after batting in the first inning.

The Rays third baseman fouled a ball off his foot in the first inning while batting against Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez.

Longoria played the field in the bottom of the first, but he did not go back out to his position in the second.

Richie Shaffer took over at third after Longoria left the game.
