The Tampa Bay Rays have traded centerfielder Jose Siri to the New York Mets in exchange for reliever RHP Eric Orze.
Siri has been a bombastic star player for the Rays, launching towering homeruns with aplomb and flair that angered opponents, while offering plus centerfield defense, including 12 DRS in 2024, second highest among outfielders in 2024.
Even better, Siri was in the top-5 by Outs Above Average (20) and Fielding Value (15 runs) at Statcast. His omission from the 2024 Gold Glove awards was a clear snub. Even more impressive were achieving these results after getting benched in May after a slow start to the season.
