Jake Odorizzi dominates Rays in return to Trop

ST. PETERSBURG -- Jake Odorizzi was a solid starting pitcher in his six big league seasons with the Rays, but he’s never put together quite as dominating a stretch as this one.

Odorizzi, the former Ray who was traded to the Minnesota Twins before last season for minor league infielder Jermaine Palacios, is one reason why the Twins own the best record in baseball. And right now, there might not be anyone pitching better than Odorizzi.

He held his former team scoreless for six innings, allowing just three hits in the Rays’ 9-7 loss to Minnesota. Odorizzi lowered his AL-best ERA to 1.
