PITTSBURGH -- Adeiny Hechavarria got the start at shortstop in his debut with the Rays on Tuesday night at PNC Park. Hechavarria, who was acquired from the Marlins on Monday, hit eighth in the lineup.
Hechavarria (strained left oblique muscle) hasn't played since May 9, but he was hitting .277 with a home run before the injury. The Rays moved Tim Beckham from shortstop to second base in an attempt to make the Rays infield defense stronger, Rays manager Kevin Cash said.
