Gomez robs homer with leaping grab

NEW YORK -- It looked like Carlos Gomez would run out of room. It looked like after all the work the Rays had done to get back into Tuesday's game with the Yankees, a classic Yankee Stadium home run would put them behind again with only nine outs to go.

But on a cold damp afternoon-turned-evening, Gomez went to the right-field wall in the sixth inning and made a classic catch, leaping and reaching over the wall to rob Tyler Wade of a home run to keep the Rays-Yankees game tied at 4.

The Rays had fallen behind, 4-1, before tying the game on Denard Span's two-run pinch-hit double in the top of the sixth.
