ST. PETERSBURG — When the season is over, Logan Forsythe is going to head home to Franklin, Tennessee, play with his dogs and sit on his porch. It will be a well-deserved rest for the Rays second baseman, who set career highs across the board during his first season as a full-time player.
For his efforts, Forsythe was voted the Don Zimmer Most Valuable Player by the members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America’s Tampa Bay chapter. He received his award Friday at the Clutch Hitters of Tampa Bay’s annual season-ending luncheon.
Forsythe, who was scratched from Friday’s game against the Blue Jays because of a bruised right foot, said he was surprised to win the award and called it a “big honor.
