Former Rays pitcher Arrojo misses the people - but not the regime - in Cuba

ST. PETERSBURG — Rolando Arrojo, the first great Rays pitcher — Devil Rays pitcher — was in the backyard of his home in the city he’s never truly left since fleeing Castro’s Cuba 20 years ago. He’s easy enough to find. He’s not hiding. You just have to want to find him.

First things first. I asked Arrojo for his driver’s license. Just for fun. You know, with all those old questions about his exact age ...

Arrojo smiled. He held out his Florida license.

DOB: 07-18-1968

So, 47 it is.

His story never gets old, how he fled Cuba for America to chase two dreams, baseball and liberty.
