BOSTON — Feeling good enough about the state of their bullpen to send down two of their multi-inning relievers, Hunter Wood and Austin Pruitt, in the last week, the Rays were probably tempting fate.
Sure enough, rookie RHP Yonny Chirinos came up short on Saturday, lasting only two-plus innings, forcing them to scramble to cover today's scheduled bullpen day.
With Chirinos going short, they had to use LHP Ryan Yarbrough, who seemed the likely Sunday starter, for four impressive innings, and his first big-league win,.
That led them to turn instead to RHP Matt Andriese, who will make his first start of the season after seven relief outings.
