ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Daniel Robertson was caught up in a hard slide on Friday night, which resulted in both his helmet bouncing back and hitting him as he came into second base, and his left thumb getting caught against the corner of the bag.
As the White Sox looked over the replay, Robertson called first bases coach Ozzie Timmons over, who signaled for the trainers.
“Initially my thumb was sore,” Robertson said after the game, “but I could still use my legs to run. I didn’t want them to have to bring someone in off the bench.
