Alex Cobb's return from Tommy John surgery is imminent. The Rays right-hander will make his first start in nearly two years on Friday against the Blue Jays.
Cobb, 28, was one of baseball's most promising young pitchers before suffering a full ulnar collateral ligament tear in September 2014. Cobb enjoyed his best season that year, going 10-9 with a 2.87 ERA over 27 starts.
Cobb is 35-23 with a 3.21 ERA in 81 career starts.
He struggled in eight rehab starts across two Minor League levels, pitching to a 6.65 ERA in 21 2/3 innings.
