TAMPA, Fla. -- Rays starter Alex Cobb was scratched from a scheduled start in a Minor League intrasquad game at the team's training facility in Port Charlotte on Sunday because of left lower-back tightness.
Manager Kevin Cash said before Tampa Bay's game against the Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field that Cobb, slotted third in Tampa Bay's rotation behind Opening Day starter Chris Archer and Jake Odorizzi, likely slept wrong and was held out as a precaution. The issue is not expected to affect his status going into the regular season.
"We probably won't know anything until [Monday] morning when Cobb comes in," Cash said.
