ST. PETERSBURG — Curt Casali made his third-straight start for one reason: The Rays need offense.
Casali answered the call Monday with the first two-homer game of his young career in the Rays 5-2 victory against the Detroit Tigers in front of 13,348 at Tropicana Field.
Nathan Karns pitched six solid innings as the Rays won for only the 10th time in their last 31 games.
They also scored more than four runs for the first time since July 8, snapping a streak of 13 straight games of four or fewer runs.
Casali accounted for three of those runs with a solo home run in the third inning for the first run of the game, and a two-run shot in the eighth inning for the final runs of the night.
