ST. PETERSBURG -- Jake Bauers' first Major League home run gave the Rays the lead, and they added to that advantage to take an 8-4 win over the Blue Jays Monday night at Tropicana Field.
Bauers, ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Rays' No. 5 prospect, already had a double and a walk when he stepped to the plate to face Sam Gaviglio in the fourth inning. When the count reached 1-1, the Blue Jays' right-hander threw a changeup that Bauers re-routed into the right-field stands.
Bauers' home run came with a man aboard, giving the Rays a 5-4 lead.
