The Rays' offense -- which featured 23 hits on the afternoon -- got into gear in the second inning when Nick Franklin and Curt Casali each had two-run homers off Twins starter Hector Santiago. Franklin and Casali are involved in competitive battles this spring for the catching and utility duties, respectively.
Jake Bauers' double down the right-field line chased Santiago. Evan Longoria added an RBI single off Randy Rosario to complete the scoring in the five-run frame. All of the runs were charged to Santiago, who did not record an out in the second.
