ST. PETERSBURG -- Rays shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera was ejected from Monday night's game -- an 8-5 victory for the Blue Jays -- in the fifth inning for arguing balls and strikes.
After falling behind in the count, 0-2, Cabrera watched the third pitch of his at-bat and plate umpire Kerwin Danley called him out on strikes. Cabrera slammed his bat on the ground and had a few words with the ump before being tossed.
"[Cabrera] disagreed with the strike zone," Rays manager Kevin Cash said after the game.
Cabrera's ejection is the first by a Rays player this season -- manager Kevin Cash has been ejected twice and hitting coach Derek Shelton once.
