HOUSTON -- The Tampa Bay Rays played a game Thursday night that did not have any late-inning drama provided by the bullpen. Chris Archer took care of that.
Archer dominated the Houston Astros by throwing the first complete game by a Rays pitcher this season in their 1-0 victory at Minute Maid Park.
It was the third complete-game shutout for Archer and his first since his rookie season in 2013.
He allowed one hit and walked one and struck out 11.
The Rays bullpen, which caughed up one-run leads Tuesday and Wednesday that led to extra-inning losses, remained quiet throughout the game.
