Tampa Bay Rays general manager Matthew Silverman says that he remains confident in the Rays despite their recent slide, indicating that he does not see the need for significant deadline additions, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
“If we’re a healthy team there isn’t a glaring need for us at the deadline,” said Silverman.
The Rays did acquiree first baseman/outfielder Marc Krauss from the Angels in exchange for righty Kyle Winkler in late June, giving Tampa some relief while they dealt with numerous injuries, but Silverman doesn't see any major weaknesses in his team as they start becoming fully healthy.
