The Tampa Bay Rays have been relatively quiet to open up the 2015 offseason, but that doesn't mean that there's not going to be action ahead on both the free agency and trade markets. With that being said, here's our Rays Offseason Rumors Roundup: Mid-September Edition.
Boxberger, McGee To Astros?
According to Evan Dreller of the Houston Chronicle, both Jake McGee and Brad Boxberger were the topics of discussions between the Rays and Houston Astros at the GM meetings this week.
Both McGee and Boxberger have been drawing significant interest this offseason, so it's no surprise that a team as heavily focused on the bullpen as Houston checked in on the dynamic duo.
Rays Interested In Rich Hill
The Rays are one of a handful of teams who have registered interest in free agent lefty Rich Hill, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Hill was dominant in four starts for the Red Sox at the end of this past season, rekindling interest in the journeyman.
One thing working in Tampa's favor here is Hill's relatively lack of a track record and the fact that he's 35 years old which makes him unlikely to command any sort of significant long-term deal. Hill has pitched for six teams over parts of 10 MLB seasons.
