The Tampa Bay Rays appear open to the idea of trading 2013 American League Rookie of the Year Wil Myers, as it appears they are currently in trade negotiations with the San Diego Padres regarding the young outfielder.
Here's FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal with the report:
Sources: #Padres, #Rays discussing significant trade. Talks involve a number of players. Wil Myers would be main piece going to SD.

According to Rosenthal, it is unclear at this point exactly what stage the negotiations have reached. Yet, trading Myers would mean immediate benefits for the Tampa Bay Rays' farm system as a whole:
Not known if SD-TB trade is close. Would involve some of #Padres’ better prospects and likely take them out of Justin Upton sweepstakes. — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 16, 2014
Myers is currently under team control for five more years. He missed a significant portion of the 2014 MLB season with a broken wrist, however, hitting just .222/.294/.320 when he was on the field.
For the Padres, his .293/.354/.478 slash line in 2013 (with 13 home runs in 375 plate appearances) makes him a coveted asset - something which could lead to a massive haul for the Rays if played correctly.
Stay tuned.
