If the past 24 hours are any indication, even the Tampa Bay Rays are unsure of what their roster is going to look like when they host the Los Angeles Angels on Friday evening at Tropicana Field.
The Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin quoted both manager Joe Maddon and quintessential trade target David Price earlier today as indicating that a move is unlikely before Thursday's non-waiver trade deadline.
Just hours later, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports 1 is now reporting a completely different spin on the story:
Rays still willing to engage in trade conversations on David Price, Ben Zobrist, Matt Joyce, source says. Haven't ruled anything out.

While the Tampa Bay Rays have won ten of their last twelve, they've gained absolutely no ground in the AL East in the process - remaining 7.5 games behind the equally-as-hot Baltimore Orioles.
The Rays remain just five games out of a Wild Card spot, however there are currently five teams ahead of them in what is one of the most clogged playoff fields in years.
All of this could factor into the team's thinking in the final hours of MLB's free trade bonanza, with a roster overhaul not out of the question heading into this weekend.
Stay tuned.
