Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik will continue his Community Heroes program after announcing Sunday his intentions to pledge an additional $10 million over the next five seasons.
The program, a partnership of the Vinik Family Foundation and the Lightning Foundation, honors a different community hero before each Lightning game.
“Penny and I are excited to announce this extension of the Lightning Community Heroes program,” Vinik said. “We continue to be inspired by all the great work performed by Tampa Bay’s grass-roots heroes and we are honored to be able to help them and their missions. Additionally, we look forward to regularly recognizing and rewarding more of our young people as they drive societal change and improvement.
