While Victor Hedman continues to get better, he will not play tonight against the Sabres, coach Jon Cooper said this morning.
Hedman, who suffered an unspecified injury when his head slammed into the boards on a hit Thursday, is considered day-to-day. When asked if a concussion has been ruled out - Hedman had at least two in his NHL career - Cooper didn't specify.
"I don't know, I'm not the doc," Cooper said. "I get, is he playing, is he not, and I got, he's not playing tonight. So that's where I'm at."
With Hedman out, and defenseman Nikita Nesterov suspended two games for boarding Thursday, Slater Koekkoek will play tonight in his first regular season game at Amalie Arena.
