TAMPA — A celebration of the Bay area sports scene kicked off by honoring one of Tampa’s own Wednesday night as Tino Martinez was named the recipient of the Lee Roy Selmon Lifetime Achievement Award at the fifth annual Sneaker Soiree.
For the second consecutive year, the master of ceremonies for the event at TPepin’s Hospitality Center was ESPN anchor Sara Walsh, a standout soccer player at Gulf High in New Port Richey two decades ago.
“I love Tampa Bay — it’s my home and my community,” said Walsh, who was accompanied by her parents, both still Pasco County residents.
