The news comes just a couple of days after the Lightning was confirmed to host the 2018 NHL All-Star Game; in fact, the statement was made during the official press conference about next year’s midseason spectacle. Speaking alongside Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan, and Tampa Bay Sports Commission Executive Director Rob Higgins, Bettman reportedly said the idea will be considered after learning more about “weather patterns” and “ice conditions.
