Throughout the entire year-long contract extension negotiation between Steven Stamkos and the Tampa Bay Lightning, the give-and-take between Stamkos’ desire to cash in on the richest contract of his career and Tampa Bay’s ability to re-sign their captain to a fiscally responsible deal, Stamkos continuously reiterated he would like to remain a member of the Lightning.
