Renovation planned at Boys and Girls Club with $2.5 million gift from Viniks

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay will use a $2.5 million gift from the Vinik Family Foundation to renovate the Winston Park Recreation Center.

An announcement of the project is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the center, 7605 Destin Drive, off Palm River Road near Dowdell Middle Magnet School. Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and his wife, Penny, are scheduled to attend, along with county officials including representatives of the sheriff’s department, which has helped launch a number of local Boys & Girls Clubs.

This is the largest individual gift $2.5 million in the 90-year history of Boys & Girls Clubs in Tampa Bay and the recreation center will be renamed the Jeff & Penny Vinik Family Winston Park Boys & Girls Club.
