The Tampa Bay Lightning are doing their best to keep the NHL on a year-round news cycle. Without much happening in the hockey world, they have posted headlines in back-to-back days. First it was the big extension for Andrei Vasilevskiy and then, on Tuesday, they convinced the Ottawa Senators to take Ryan Callahan’s contract off their hands. And they didn’t even have to throw a prospect into the deal.

News broke mid-morning that the Lightning and the Ottawa Senators had worked out a deal that would send Ryan Callahan’s contract and a fifth round pick to Ottawa in exchange for goaltender Mike Condon and a sixth round pick.
