TAMPA —Vinny Lecavalier is not having a happy homecoming.
The former Lightning captain and 2004 Stanley Cup champion, who joined Philadelphia after Tampa Bay bought out his contract following the 2012-13 season, was set to be a healthy scratch for the Flyers in Thursday’s season opener for both teams.
Since leaving the Lightning, the former Rocket Richard trophy winner has had a rough time in Philadelphia, especially last year when he missed the Flyers’ only visit to Tampa because of a foot injury and was a healthy scratch 17 times under former head coach Craig Berube.
But even under new Philly head coach Dave Hakstol, the slate apparently has not been wiped clean.
