TAMPA — Family ties are staying with Tampa Bay as the Lightning selected Nolan Foote as its 27th pick Friday night in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft.
Foote, a left winger from Canada, played in 66 games this season, notching 63 points on the year.
Foote’s father Adam was a two-time Stanley Cup Champion with the Avalanche. Foote’s older brother Cal is a defenseman for the Syracuse Crunch, Tampa Bay’s affiliate and was selected No. 14 in the 2017 NHL Draft.

Before the draft, Julien BriseBois said the Lightning wouldn’t be considering need and would stick to its ranking.
