The Professional Women’s Hockey League’s inaugural season got underway on Monday as New York headed up to Toronto. It was the New York team that emerged with the victory as they won, 4-0, behind Corinne Schroeder’s 29 saves.
Ella Shelton will have her name etched in the history books as she scored the first goal in league history as she snuck a wrister through a screen and past Toronto goaltender Kristen Campbell.
Ottawa takes on Montreal tonight and the rest of the league will get underway throughout the week.
