Mishkin's Extra Shift: Bruins 1, Lightning 0 - OT

Despite the fact that the Boston Bruins won this game, there were two positive takeaways for the Lightning. First, the Lightning had a terrific response to Monday’s poor performance in Philadelphia. They fired 42 shots on Boston goalie Jonas Gustavsson and carried play for much of the final two periods. If not for Gustavsson, the Lightning would have likely won this game in regulation. Second, even though the Lightning didn’t win the game, they still gained a point in the standings. While it’s true that this is not the time of the year for moral victories – games in which you play well but don’t get the result – it’s also true that this wasn’t just a moral victory.
