The Lightning announced Tuesday that it will have a team competing in the NHL Prospects Showcase, set for Sept. 8-11 at Germain Arena in Estero, near Fort Myers.
Tampa Bay will go up against prospects from the Washington Capitals and Nashville Predators. Last year's tournament was canceled due to the threat of Hurricane Irma.
Rosters have not been released yet, but the Lightning is scheduled to play two games: Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. against Nashville, and Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. against Washington. All games are free and open to the public.
Current Lightning players Brayden Point, Anthony Cirelli, Slater Koekkoek Jake Dotchin and Adam Erne were all among the prospects who played in the same event for Tampa Bay in Estero in 2015.
