The Lightning has traded Ben Bishop to the Kings.
Bishop, the best goalie in franchise history, was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, making him a hot target before Wednesday's deadline. In return, Tampa Bay received goalie Peter Budaj, defense prospect Erik Cernak and a seventh round pick this season. TSN's Bob McKenzie was the first to report the news.
With Bishop gone, the Lightning officially moves on to the Andrei Vasilevskiy era, the touted Russian taking over as the No. 1. Bishop had been playing his best hockey of the season, winning his last five starts.
