The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Daniel Walcott to a three-year, two-way contract, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Walcott, 21, skated in 54 games last season with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, recording seven goals and 41 points to go along with 40 penalty minutes. He ranked first on the Armada among defensemen for goals, assists and points. The 5-foot-11, 170 pound defenseman ranked fifth on the club with a +20 rating. Walcott also skated in six playoff games, notching a goal and four points.
The Ile Perrot, Quebec, native appeared in 121 career QMJHL games over two seasons with Blainville-Boisbriand, collecting 17 goals and 80 points during that stretch.
