With their 31-26 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday the Tampa Bay Buccaneers became the latest team from the Tampa area to play for their league championship. The Bucs will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on February 7th (which also happens to be Lightning captain Steven Stamkos’ birthday) in hope of winning the Lombardi Trophy for the second time in franchise history.
The Lightning kicked off this title run in September when they beat the New York Islanders in the Eastern Conference Finals. They won their championship series against the Dallas Stars to clinch the Stanley Cup.
