Yesterday, the NHL and the NHLPA released a statement which we can take as an official announcement that training camps (Phase 3 of the NHL’s Return to Play plan) will open on Friday, July 10 if health and safety conditions allow for it.
However some additional details about the length of the training camp and potential date to start the best-of-five qualifying round still remain unclear. In yesterday’s piece, Pierre LeBrun from the Athletic mentioned that August 1 is to be expected as the date of start for the qualifying round, although the negotiations are still in the early stages.
