Lightning roster taking shape

DIRK SHADD | Times

The Ligtning is finalizing its roster, sending several players down to AHL Syracuse to get down to 23 players.

Forwards Mike Angelidis and Jonathan Marchessault, who both cleared waivers, were reassigned to the Crunch, as was goalie Kristers Gudlevskis and defenseman Luke Witkowski.

As of now, it appears that Kevin Poulin will be the temporary backup goalie to Ben Bishop, and that Slater Koekkoek and Nikita Nesterov are on the team. Things could change before tonight's 5 p.m. deadline, but that's where Tampa Bay is at now.

Coach Jon Cooper said they were leaning towards carrying seven defensemen, and currently they have eight.
