TAMPA — The job of the offseason is set to hit midseason form tonight.
Less than two weeks after the Lightning concluded their postseason run in a six-game loss to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Final, the business of preparing for the upcoming season officially gets under way with the NHL Entry Draft. The first round will be held tonight at BB&T Center in Sunrise starting at 7, with Tampa Bay holding the 28th overall pick.
Overall, the Lightning hold nine draft picks, with at least one in every round and two picks in the fourth and sixth rounds, offering the opportunity to help keep the team’s successful farm system stocked.
